Physical Computing

Comet is a movable phone booth that allows you have private calls while completely immersed in the public space. The project was built using Arduino circuits hacked on an old hair dryer helmet and an office chair with wheels.

To start the phone call module the user sits on its chair and positions his head inside the hair dryer helmet. Immediately the waiting song stops, a red light turns on from the bottom showing that it is being used and the phone will guide the user to type the number on the keypad and start the call.

The helmet streams the voice of the person you are calling to, while inside it, there is a microphone where your voice is captured. After finishing the call the user gets out of his chair and the phone booth goes back in to waiting mode.

The Interaction Design Programme

The Interaction Design Programme is a collaborative initiative between Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design (CIID) and The Danish Design School (DKDS). Our aim is for students, faculty and staff to work together in a multi-cultural, multidisciplinary studio environment to co-create a new kind of education that is relevant for academia and industry.
